Biography:
Cliff Secord, also known as the Rocketeer, is a fictional character originally created by writer/artist Dave Stevens. He first appeared in 1982 in a short backup feature within the comic book *Starslayer* published by Pacific Comics.
Secord is a young stunt pilot living in 1930s Los Angeles. He accidentally discovers a stolen jetpack hidden inside the cowling of his Gee Bee racer that was hidden by gangsters. This jetpack, designed by Howard Hughes, allows him to fly at incredible speeds and altitudes.
Embracing a swashbuckling persona, Cliff uses the jetpack to fight crime and protect his girlfriend, Betty, from various threats, including gangsters, Nazi spies, and other dangerous individuals and organizations. He is characterized by his resourcefulness, courage, and unwavering sense of justice.
The Rocketeer's adventures are heavily influenced by the pulp era, and feature elements of science fiction, action, and romance. The character gained popularity through his comic book appearances and subsequent media adaptations, including a well-regarded 1991 Disney film.
